Burn Injury
An accident in which someone receives a burn injury can be one of the most painful of injuries. The severity of a burn injury is defined by different degrees or the severity of the burn. Burns describe a light to severe injury to the different layers of skin, which protects the body from the effects of the outside world. The top layer of skin is called the epidermis and the underlying layer is called the dermis. All of the sweat glands, nerve endings, blood vessels and hair follicles reside in the dermis. Below the dermis is where the muscles, larger blood vessels and bones lie.
Burn injury is most often caused by hot steam or water, sun exposure without sunscreen, smokers who fall asleep with a lit cigarette, chemical burns and/or fire, exposure to radiation, and electricity (internal organs may be damaged by electrical burns).
The individual or element that caused your burn injury may have negligently
caused your burn injury and you may be entitled to monetary compensation for
their negligent act. Contact our Denver accident and personal injury law firm
immediately to discuss your case further. Quick action is often important
as key evidence may be lost if too much time passes.
